I just updated my Joomla! Extension to connect twitter and facebook 2-in-1. I am using AutoTweet NG Free to implement my Joomseed - Joomla! Package, it is working very well Thanks to the developer. ust now AutoTweet Pro (Commercial) just updated his function to be able to update status to facebook as well.
I was using Twitter Status Update 2.0 (Subscription) for a while, it's working well on www.meedee.net (i guess SEF also working only frontend as well), but I have a big problem only on my previous www.ibualoy.net before code cleaning. The problem is it send the wrong url of the content, it send the submisson form layout instead of article layout view.There is no problem on the other Joomla! site in the same host.
Anyway, after code cleaning, I moved to AutoTweet NG Free and he mention in the Know Issues section below
When article is posted from admin backend, no SEF support is available and normal URL is used. (This is an issue of Joomla and not of the plugin: in backend no SEF support is available at all.)
So this is the reason why SEF was not working in Backend. Fortunately, AutoTweet NG Pro has the feature "Manual Mode" which we can save the article first, edit and save it until we satisfy, and then we make tweet manually after the contect looks nice already. (Back to Basic!!!)
Update the result
I think the manual update feature is nice idea, but after 1st tried, I just realized that even we update the content on frontend, but we publish the twitter and facebook status manually on backend, so SEF is not working there! I guess I would go back to auto mode, because SEF is higher priority in my opinion. I would wait until Joomla Core (which I heard 1.6 can do that) able to save draft during we are writing the article same like wordpress.
The other way I tested was I wrote the content in the backend but do not publish it yet, edit until ok, then publish and save in the frontend. Unfortunately, it seems that AutoTweet was skip this article totally, there is no notification from AutoTweet, no message history in AutoTweet Component.
What I did is set in AutoTweet-Content plugin to update status for the modified article as well and I save the article again in frontend. Now there is notification message, the article published in facebook status stream with Thai Language correctly together with short url refered to nice SEF link. Unforthunately, first time it didn't update twitter. So, I went to AutoTweet Component Message, set parameter to turn of facebook update, then check the message I want to tweet and click publish. The article with SEF url was stored in the database already, even I re-publish again in the backend, the SEF link still working. after finished I turn on facebook update again in the parameter. Happy Ending, Thanks to AutoTweet.
